A beloved art gallery in Melbourne’s east has been left in ruins after a group of teenagers drove into it in a stolen car early on Saturday morning.
Six youths are believed to have been driving a stolen Audi when they lost control of the car along Ridge Road, causing them to crash through a stone barrier and crash outside Kapi Art Space in Kalorama shortly after 3am.
Police said the gallery was “extensively damaged” as a result of the crash.
When officers arrived on the scene, the occupants of the Audi had all fed themselves, although they managed to quickly arrest a teenage girl.
As police searched for the other five offenders, they received a report of an attempted car theft nearby on Price Road.
When officers arrived in the area, they flagged down a rideshare vehicle and found four teenagers inside.
Three boys and a girl were arrested and taken into custody.
The latest teenager was arrested after being chased by the dog team.
Five of the teenagers are due to be questioned by Victoria Police on Saturday morning, while the sixth was taken to hospital with a leg injury after being bitten by a police dog.
Police urged all witnesses, anyone with CCTV/dashcam footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
