WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Connect with other small farmers during Small Farm Education Day on July 29, presented by Purdue Student Farm and Purdue University’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m.
Topics to cover include:
- Demonstration of the BCS roller seamer
- Black Soldier Fly Composting
- Drip irrigation
- Effectiveness of biological pesticides to control Colorado beetle and potato caterpillars
- Production of table grapes in high tunnel
- Selection and production of high tunnel pepper varieties
- Post-harvest food safety considerations
- Use of spray equipment on small plots
- Raised beds for vegetable production
- Reading fertilizer labels and calculating application rates
