As a brand, Radiate began manufacturing its portable campfires in 2017 and launched a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $6,000. This led to company founders Brent Davidson and Bryan Cantrell showcasing their product in 2018 on season 9 of shark tank. They were looking for a $50,000 investment in exchange for a 20% stake in the business. Many Sharks were interested in the venture and made offers to the duo, but Shark Robert Herjavec sealed the deal by offering $100,000 for a 25% stake.

Since then, the business has become a huge success, thanks in large part to the ease of use of the original 4.6-star rated campfire. At just 4 pounds and 8 inches in diameter, it’s lightweight and all you have to do to get started is remove the lid and light the briquettes. When you’re done, slide the lid over the top of the fire to extinguish the flames and wait for it to cool completely before handling or storing – it really is that simple.

Many buyers claim that this little product does wonders for outdoor spaces. “I love the Radiate! [It’s] simple to light and fire [gets] up to max size pretty quickly…definitely faster than a traditional wood campfire,” exclaimed one customer. Others have even used it in the most extreme circumstances and found it to work well.[I] used on a camping trip at around 12,000 feet, after a long day of hiking. [It] worked very well in [the] rain (and some hail),” one user wrote. Above all, many people were impressed with the smokeless flame it generates: “I just used it tonight on the beach for the first time and it was perfect! It was compact, easy to light, the flame was big as a campfire and it gave off a lot more heat than I expected,” another person wrote.
