BARBARA A. HEATH

Cedars Rapids

Barbara Ann Heath, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2021, surrounded by a loving family.

Barb was born to Harold and Kathryn Hoben on April 24, 1933 in Janesville, Wisconsin. She grew up on Rock Island, Illinois, and graduated from Rock Island High School. She married Gilman Clark in 1953 and had three daughters. She married Jerry Heath in 1978.

Barb started living in Cedar Rapids

in 1957. She worked for Mutual Fire and Auto Insurance and United Fire Group for most of her career. We thank her former colleague, Dave Hellen (the son she never had), for being a dear friend. She retired completely after working at the Tobacco Bowl, a business owned by family friend Jolene Connolly.

As a young mother, Barb was active with Camp Fire Girls. As a grandmother (known simply as Gran), she volunteered at Erskine Elementary School. She loved the sport throughout her life (a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers) and was an accomplished bowler. Barb and Jerry enjoyed bowling together, trips to the casino, and trips to see their geographically dispersed family.

Barb is survived by her husband, Jerry Heath; three daughters, Leslie Jacobsen (John Powell) of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Chris Kubicek (Kirk Long) of Cedar Rapids and Melanie Clark (Wilfrid Sadler) of Cheyenne, Wyo .; five grandchildren, Nick, Andrew, Kate, Kael and Natalie; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dora Hoben; and two nieces, Lisa and Karen.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Mike Hoben.

To honor Barb’s wishes, the family celebrated her life at a private reunion. The family thanks Hospice of Mercy for end of life care. A memorial donation can be made to International Medical Corps, 12400 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1500, Los Angeles, CA 90025, a wonderful organization administered by a dear family friend.
